The price of a range of food commodities on world markets is the lowest it’s been since September 2009, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The monthly Food Price Index for June published by the UN food agency shows a decrease of almost one per cent over the previous month.

The index is a measure of the monthly change of a range of major commodities, including cereals, sugar, vegetable oil and dairy.

Sandra Ferrari asked FAO economist, Mamoun Amrouk, about the main trends in the latest index.
