Family planning reaches into mountains of Laos

An increasing number of women in the mountainous South-East Asian country of Laos are accessing family planning services for the first time, thanks to a programme supported by the UN Population Fund, UNFPA.
Around 70 per cent of the population lives in rural and remote areas, so women have typically found it difficult to obtain contraceptives and reproductive counselling.
Community-based distribution workers are now reaching those in need, as Pat Duffy reports
