At a time when so many reporters are imprisoned, injured or killed, renowned journalist Christiane Amanpour is calling on the international community to say this cannot continue with impunity.

On Wednesday, the CNN chief international correspondent was named UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Freedom of Expression and Journalist Safety.

Ms Amanpour, who has been covering international wars and crises since 1990, says dangerous situations have been accumulating over the years and have peaked with the presence of ISIL terrorists in the Middle East.

Stephanie Coutrix spoke with Christiane Amanpour on the line after a ceremony at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France.

She began by asking her how much of a responsibility it is to be Goodwill Ambassador.
