The mandate of the United Nations peacekeeping mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) has been extended until May 2015 amid what’s been described as “grave alarm about the further deteriorating political, security and humanitarian crisis.”

The UN Security Council voted to keep peacekeepers in the country but demanded that government fully cooperate with UNMISS.

The country continues to suffer from continued instability which has caused around two million people to flee their homes.

The vote to renew the mandate takes place on a regular basis .
