The promotion of development around the world is no longer based solely on developed countries helping developing ones, according to a senior official of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Increasingly, low- and middle-income countries are helping each other and coming up with solutions in what is known as south-south cooperation.

However, Festus Akinnifesi, Chief of the South-South Cooperation Team of FAO says that this cooperation does not replace collaboration between developed and developing countries.

Rocio Franco discussed this issue with Mr Akinnifesi who first described the concept of countries from the global south working togerther..
