A convoy of 18 trucks carrying food has arrived in South Sudan’s Upper Nile State from Sudan in the first operation of its type under an agreement between the two governments.

The 700 metric tons of food, which left the port of Kosti in Sudan on Friday, is enough to feed about 45,000 people for one month.

It is the first time that food assistance has been moved from Sudan to South Sudan.

To find out more about the operation, Sani Martin spoke with George Forminyen from the World Food Programme (WFP) in South Sudan.
