Barriers to women’s economic empowerment can be removed, according to the Executive Director of the UN’s agency for gender equality, UN Women.

On Saturday, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka was at a ministerial panel at UN Headquarters in New York, to discuss women’s economic potential and the key role they play for sustainable development.

Ms Mlambo-Ngcuka is pushing for legislations that hinder women’s economic participation to be removed.

Stephanie Coutrix asked Ms Mlambo-Ngcuka about the main barriers that women face.
