Tightened security checks on operations carried out by the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) could delay the delivery of humanitarian aid.

The UNMISS Spokesperson Ariane Quintier described the move to search UN vehicles and convoys as “very worrying”.

The concern stems from a statement by Information Minister Michael Makuei, saying the government would not waiver on its decision.

The Mission already has a Status of Force Agreement with the government which grants it freedom of movement to provide services.

Ms. Quintier explained this to Chaplain Nemaya.
