There is still a lot of work that needs to be done to promote equality between men and women involved in the radio broadcasting industry.

That’s according to Mirta Lourenco, chief of Media Development and Society at the UN Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

UNESCO observes 13 February as World Radio Day each year to highlight the role of this medium.

On the eve of the day, Ms. Lourenco spoke to UN Radio’s Derrick Mbatha about some of the gender disparities in the radio medium.
