India, which was once considered the most challenging place on earth for polio eradication, will soon celebrate three years without a single reported case of the disease.
The World Health Organization (WHO) says pending final clearance of laboratory samples from India this month, it’s expected that the entire South-East Asia region will be certified as polio-free.
Patrick Maigua in Geneva asked Olivier Rosenbauer, spokesperson for WHO’s Global Polio Eradication Initiative, about this milestone achievement for India.
