It is time to bring an end to the fighting in Darfur, the head of UN peacekeeping told the Security Council on Monday.

Hervé Ladsous presented the latest report on the joint UN-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), which he says is working hard to implement its mandate under challenging circumstances.

Civil war in Darfur erupted a decade ago this month and the UN has been trying to find a lasting solution to the crisis which has killed hundreds of thousands of people and displaced nearly two million.
