The world’s cities are home to more people than ever before – and the trend is set to continue.

Around 70 percent of the global population will live in urban areas by 2050.

But to ensure enough water, energy and other resources for future city dwellers and to avoid more people living in slums, cities need to be planned and built in a more environmentally-friendly way.

That’s the message of a new study launched at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi today.
