Six wounded civilians are receiving medical treatment at UNAMID, the African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur, following fierce fighting in East Darfur that resulted in the death of four civilians.

The Sudanese Armed Forces on Tuesday, supported by additional armed groups, re-took control of Labado in East Darfur from the Sudanese Liberation Movement/Minni Minawi.

Aicha Elbasri, UNAMID Spokesperson, tells Gerry Adams that thousands of displaced civilians are still waiting for humanitarian aid and that fighting in Darfur has been going on for years.
