On the morning of April 9, heavily armed assailants attacked a convoy of the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) travelling on the road between the Jonglei state capital of Bor and Gumuruk town in South Sudan.

Twelve people died in that ambush -- five Indian peacekeepers, two national staff of UNMISS and five civilian staff contractors.

Several others were injured.

Gerry Adams reports.
