The Security Council on Wednesday held consultations on potential UN engagement in Mali.

Council members heard of two possible options proposed by the UN Secretary-General in his latest report on the country.

The crisis in Mali was sparked by a military coup last March and the occupation of parts of the north of the country by radical Islamists.
