25 March is observed as the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

The transatlantic slave trade lasted four centuries. Approximately 15-20 million African people were exiled from their homes, stripped of their rights and even their identities shipped across a vast ocean and sold for profit in the largest forced migration the world has ever known.

This day of remembrance gives us a chance to commemorate, honour and celebrate the victims, the heroes, resisters and survivors for their brave and determined struggle.
