As part of its ongoing efforts to prevent measles and rubella, Rwanda is starting a dual vaccine campaign against the diseases on Tuesday.

This is the first time that the combined Measles-Rubella vaccine is being used in a developing country.

The campaign aims to vaccinate almost 5 million children between 9 and 15 years of age with the combined MR vaccine during this week.

To find out more about the vaccination campaign, UN Radio’s Derrick Mbatha spoke by telephone with Dr. Friday Nwaigwe, UNICEF’s Chief of Health and Nutrition in Rwanda.
