Hakima is a 13-year old Ugandan girl and a volunteer of child rights organisation Plan International.

She is  active in her school and her community where she is a member of several clubs.

Some of the projects she is active in include a Plan facilitated club at her school that focuses on disaster risk reduction and another which is called “Promoting Urban Cities Free of Gender-based Violence.”

Hakima attended this year’s session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women which is focusing on ending violence against women and girls.

UN Radio’s Derrick Mbatha sat down with her and heard what she and other children are doing to help children in Uganda.
