The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), is usually associated with issues relating to safeguards for nuclear installations or verification that nuclear technology is being used for peaceful purposes.

But in Cameroon, the IAEA is helping to diagnose animal diseases, in a country where over a third of the population depend on livestock for their livelihoods.

The agency, through its Joint Division with the Food and Agriculture Organization -FAO, is supporting Cameroon’s national veterinary laboratory, LANAVET which is responsible for the diagnosis and control of animal disease.
