A successful suicide is completed every 40 seconds of every day, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
To raise public awareness of the very serious issue of suicide, and to encourage policymakers to do something about it, the World Health Organization observes World Suicide Prevention Day on the 10th of September.
This year’s theme is "Suicide prevention across the globe: strengthening protective factors and instilling hope".
