Because of climate change, the frequency, intensity and duration of droughts are expected to increase, according to the World Meteorological Organization, (WMO.

The agency says this will have impacts on many sectors, including food, water, health and energy.

WMO is calling on governments around the world to adopt stronger national policies to deal with drought.
