The end of conflict does not always mean peace has arrived. That is one of the reasons the United Nations created its Peacebuilding Commission.

The Commission plays a unique role in bringing together all of the relevant actors, marshalling resources and advising on and proposing integrated strategies for post-conflict peacebuilding and recovery and where appropriate, highlighting any gaps that threaten to undermine peace.

The Security Council on Thursday heard from the Peacebuilding Commission on its fifth session.

The debate was organized by the Colombian Mission to the UN, which holds the rotating presidency of the Council for the month of July.
