UN Humanitarian Affairs chief makes first trip to Afghanistan

The Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs is calling on donor states to continue supporting the people of Afghanistan now more than ever.

Valerie Amos, who is also the UN’s Emergency Relief Coordinator is on her first trip to Afghanistan where she assessing the humanitarian situation in the country.

Ms. Amos says the UN this year has allocated US$ 37 million to Afghanistan.

She added that the UN wants to see Government and international institutions deliver the humanitarian assistance in a coordinated way.
