DR Congo: UN officials hail landmark convictions, life sentences in Kavumu child rape cases

The United Nations envoys dealing with sexual violence in conflict and the head of the Organization’s peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have welcomed the conviction of 11 Congolese militia fighters for raping dozens of children – including an 18-month-old toddler – in the vast country’s restive east.

Perpetrators, not victims, should be shamed for conflict-related sexual violence – UN report

Survivors of sexual violence in war zones need to be recognized as legitimate victims of conflict and terrorism, and not blamed, stigmatized or shamed, the United Nations has said in an annual report to be presented to the Security Council.

Reproductive health a "human right" says young Ghana activist

A youth activist from Ghana is urging African governments to prioritize the sexual and reproductive rights of the continent’s young people.

Asenam Amuzu represents a non-profit called Dance4Life which empowers young people to protect their health and promote safe sexual choices.
