UN teams with World Economic Forum to drive financing for development

The United Nations teamed up today with the World Economic Forum (WEF) in a bid to mobilize partnerships between the public and private sectors and boost business contribution to sustainable development and the fight against poverty.

United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan warned an international meeting on development today that even if the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are reached by their target date of 2015, the world will still face "a vast backlog of human deprivation."
