Serious human rights violations committed during DR Congo elections – UN report

Serious human rights violations, including killings, disappearances and arbitrary detentions, were committed by Congolese and security forces during last year’s presidential and legislative elections in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), according to a United Nations report released today.

Rwandan rebel leader surrenders amid UN-backed offensive in DR Congo

A top Rwandan rebel leader has surrendered amid a joint military offensive by the United Nations and the national army of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), a spokesperson for the world body has confirmed.

Thousands of refugees fleeing violence in DR Congo enter Uganda – UN

More than 3,000 civilians fleeing violence in the North Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have entered Uganda since the beginning of this year, the United Nations refugee agency reported today.

DR Congo: UN concerned over fresh attacks by Ugandan rebel group
