An Indian soldier from the United Nations peacekeeping force in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) was killed today when his patrol went to the aid of national army forces caught in an ambush by unidentified gunmen in the east of the country.

UN peacekeepers rush to aid of landslide victims in eastern DR Congo

United Nations peacekeepers today rushed in all-terrain vehicles and other relief after an overflowing river caused a landslide on the slopes of a major volcano in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), burying at least 46 people and washing away 200 homes.
