The ability of countries to prevent terrorists, black marketers and other private interests from acquiring weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) will soon get essential support from a Security Council committee set up to monitor the problem, the panel’s chairman said today.

Calling on the Security Council "to stay ahead of the curve," the head of the Council's committee that monitors sanctions against Al-Qaida and the Taliban said today the world needs "to think of new ways to defeat terrorism and its perpetrators" because the threat from the two groups keeps changing.
