The United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, has welcomed the direct talks between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) which opened today in Thailand.
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) today hailed the release over the past few weeks of 85 child recruits by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
