UN chief Guterres welcomes announcement of adherence to ceasefire in eastern Ukraine

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has welcomed yesterday's announcement of an agreement on adherence to a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine, in accordance with the Minsk Agreements, by 1 April, and on the disengagement of forces and hardware in Stanytsia Luhanska by 6 April.

With fighting near industrial sites, UN expert warns Ukrainians of chemical disaster risk

Unless the fighting in eastern Ukraine is stopped and precautions are taken to secure industrial facilities in the area, the armed conflict could lead to a catastrophic chemical disaster, an independent United Nations human rights expert today warned.

UN migration agency seeks $25 million to aid families in eastern Ukraine

To meet the emergency needs of 180,000 people in eastern Ukraine, the United Nations migration agency today announced plans to provide aid ranging from blankets to money to cover electricity costs and psychological support at a cost of $25 million.
