Contrary to suggestions that the Winter Olympics were held too far from the mountains, Torino may in fact have shown the way towards even ‘greener’ games, the head of the United Nations environmental agency said today.
More than 2,500 athletes and hundreds of thousands of visitors will descend on Torino, Italy this Friday to enjoy a Winter Olympics that the United Nations environmental agency today lauded as one of the most eco-friendly Games ever.
With the Winter Olympics opening on Friday in Italy, the President of the United Nations General Assembly today appealed to all countries to revive the ancient Greek tradition of a two-week period of peace surrounding the athletic competition.
