UN commemorates 40th anniversary of Dag Hammarskjöld's death

To commemorate the fortieth anniversary of the death of the second Secretary-General of the United Nations, the UN today launched a web site and issued postage stamps honouring the memory of Dag Hammarskjöld, who died while on a peace mission in the Congo.

Forty years after the tragic death of Dag Hammarskjöld, the second Secretary-General of the United Nations, a memorial was launched near the site of the mysterious plane crash in Zambia where he had been killed.
