UN health agency urges expanding antiretroviral therapy to all people living with HIV

Expanding antiretroviral therapy to all people living with HIV is the key to ending the AIDS epidemic within a generation, the World Health Organization announced on the eve of World AIDS Day, presenting new “treat all” recommendations to enable countries to expand treatment rapidly and efficiently.

‘Hidden epidemic’ of HIV hitting adolescents in Asia-Pacific region, UN agencies warn

The Asia-Pacific region is facing a ‘hidden epidemic’ of HIV among adolescents, with anestimated 50,000 new infections in 2014 among those aged 15 to 19, United Nations agencies reported today, calling on Governments to develop specifically targeted prevention strategies.

UNAIDS: millions receiving HIV treatment globally through accelerated and focused response

Citing “extraordinary” progress in HIV prevention and response in the last 15 years, a new United Nations report found that many countries are adopting the Fast-Track Strategy developed by the Joint UN Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), which allows more people to receive timely treatment for HIV, in an effort to end AIDS by 2030, as part of the recently adopted Sustainable Development Goals.
