In UN-backed call, business leaders seek end to HIV travel restrictions

In a move jointly sponsored by the United Nations agency dealing with the global HIV/AIDS response, more than 40 top business leaders today called for the repeal of laws and policies restricting freedom of movement of people living with HIV.

New UN report finds rate of new HIV infections has fallen by half in 25 countries

A reduction of more than 50 per cent in the rate of new HIV infections has been achieved across 25 low- and middle-income countries – more than half in Africa, the region most affected by HIV – according to a new United Nations report, which shows that unprecedented acceleration in the AIDS response is producing results.

Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi to combat AIDS-related stigma in new UN role

Nobel peace prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi has accepted a new role with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) to advance efforts to eliminate stigma and discrimination against those affected by the epidemic.
