UNESCO launches 12-country AIDS education project funded by OPEC

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced today that it has joined with the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in a two-year project to reduce the impact of the HIV/AIDS crisis in a dozen Arab and Asian countries through education.

The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) today designated the multilateral organization the Caribbean countries formed to help them fight against the pandemic “an international best practice” in a region estimated to be the world's second-worst affected by HIV/AIDS after sub-Saharan Africa.
