Deploring attack on Afghan civilians, UN mission calls for prompt investigation

The United Nations mission in Afghanistan strongly condemned the killing on Friday of civilians in the western province of Ghor, and called for a prompt investigation into the crime.

Amid audit delay, UN in Afghanistan proposes criteria for ordering recounts

As the audit of the Afghan presidential election resumed today, the United Nations proposed a set of criteria to the country’s main electoral body for separating valid votes from fraudulent ballots cast in the June presidential run-off.

Afghanistan to resume election audit on Thursday, UN confirms

The physical audit of the votes cast in Afghanistan’s run-off presidential election is due to resume tomorrow, the United Nations today confirmed after a meeting with Afghan electoral commission officials.

Afghanistan: UN strongly condemns deadly attacks against civilians in Kabul, Paktika

The Security Council, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the United Nations mission in Afghanistan strongly condemned two attacks that took place today, one in Kabul and the other in the eastern province of Paktika, which have killed and injured scores of civilians.

Suicide attack amidst group of children draws condemnation from UN in Afghanistan

The top United Nations official in Afghanistan today condemned a suicide bombing in the central province of Parwan which killed at least 10 children and injured six others, warning that such indiscriminate attacks could amount to international humanitarian law violations.
