UN Mission in Afghanistan condemns deadly attack on the Red Cross

The United Nations in Afghanistan today ‘strongly condemned’ a deadly attack on the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) in Jalalabad in the eastern province of Nangarhar, and reiterated its calls for protection of medical and aid workers in the country.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the top United Nations envoy in Afghanistan have strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a compound of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in central Kabul, which earlier today wounded three of the agency’s staff, one seriously.

In Kabul, UNESCO chief spotlights Afghanistan’s educational and cultural gains

UN officials in Afghanistan urge ratification of law to eliminate violence against women

Senior United Nations officials in Afghanistan are today urging the Government to fully implement legislation to protect women from child marriage and other forms of violence, in line with international commitments, after the Afghan Parliament failed to ratify the law over the weekend.
