On the International Day of Democracy, the United Nations chief urged each Government to respect its citizens’ right to “meaningful participation” in the political process.
Discussions about gender equality must not be isolated from discussions about democracy and civil society.
That’s according to a panellist of the "Space for Civil Society" event, marking the UN International Day of Democracy on 15 September.
This year’s theme is a reminder to governments that successful and stable democracies require the presence of freely operating civil society groups.
