Tackling challenges such as marine pollution and dwindling fish stocks will top the global agenda next week when Heads of State, civil society representatives and the private sector convene at UN Headquarters to spur action to improve the state of the world’s oceans.

Although more than 170 countries have ratified a UN treaty against racial discrimination, the problem still persists and has taken on some “very insidious contemporary forms.”

Governments around the world are being urged to take action to stop the fear and misinformation about minorities and migrants that is inciting racial hatred and profiling.
