‘Amid stormy global seas, UN Charter remains our moral anchor’, says Guterres on United Nations Day

In his annual message for UN Day this Thursday, Secretary-General António Guterres issued a reminder of the role the Organization should be playing, focusing on the the real problems of real people, as a “shared moral anchor” amid “stormy global seas”.

Wednesday marked the 73rd birthday of the UN’s founding document, known as the UN Charter.  The anniversary is celebrated as “United Nations Day”, and every year, in the name of peace and our common humanity, a concert takes place in the UN’s General Assembly’s hall, in New York.  Yasmina Guerda from UN News was there and met some of the performers taking part.

United Nations Headquarters in New York sang and danced to the music of award-winning artist and humanitarian Stevie Wonder and other renowned musicians on Thursday evening, during a concert to celebrate the world body’s 67th anniversary.
