New UN report reveals obstacles to combat impunity for conflict-related sexual violence in Ukraine

Lack of laws, capacity and professional experience to effectively investigate and prosecute conflict-related sexual violence in Ukraine is not only resulting in widespread impunity, it is causing survivors of sexual violence to be "victimized twice", according to a new United Nations human rights report.

UN emergency food agency to feed some 220,000 people in conflict-affected Ukraine

Access to food is becoming harder in eastern Ukraine as prices are outpacing incomes, the United Nations emergency food agency today said, warning that without longer-term intervention, more people will need humanitarian aid in the months and years to come.

Ukraine: UN warns of civilian casualties in ‘face to face’ fighting in country's east

Intensified fighting between Government and non-Government forces near densely populated areas in eastern Ukraine is endangering civilians, the senior United Nations humanitarian representative in the country told reporters in Geneva today.
On 1 February 2017, sisters Vika and Yulia are waiting in a bus to be evacuated from the town of Avdiivka, Donetsk region of Ukraine. Following intense fighting at the end of January 2017, more than 17,000 people are facing freezing weather without any heating, electricity or water.

Dangerous conditions in Ukraine after heavy fighting shuts down power, water – UNICEF

Conflict in Ukraine continues to take civilian toll – UN human rights report

A new United Nations report out today has confirmed that Ukrainians living close to the “contact line” – the area between Government-controlled and armed group-controlled territory in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions – not only suffer due to fighting near their homes but also face the threat of landmines and unexploded ordinance as well as have to contend with severe restrictions on movement.

UN refugee agency urges better measures for people crossing contact line in eastern Ukraine
