Torture victims' right to rehabilitation "often neglected"

The right of torture victims to seek treatment for the trauma they have experienced is "often neglected," according to experts who work with these people.

They say survivors sometimes find it hard to get help because some countries deny that they are torturing their citizens.

Representatives from UN Member States and non-governmental organizations discussed the obligation to assist torture victims at a recent event in Geneva.
