United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today condemned the bombing at the Boston Marathon, calling “this senseless violence… all the more appalling for taking place at an event renowned for bringing people together from around the world in a spirit of sportsmanship and harmony.”

Members of the Security Council have strongly condemned this week's terrorist attack at the gas facility in Amenas, Algeria, that resulted in numerous deaths and injuries.

Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson today stressed the importance of global efforts to cut off funding for terrorism while upholding United Nations values, including respect for human rights and the rule of law.

Reaffirming that terrorists and armed groups still pose a threat to Afghanistan, the Security Council today condemned, in the strongest terms, coordinated terrorist attacks across the Central Asian country on 14 and 15 August, which caused numerous deaths and injuries, mostly to civilians.
