The leaders of the 4,000-strong United Nations staff union in Geneva today voiced their "full confidence" in Secretary-General Kofi Annan after counterparts in New York raised concerns over UN senior management.
United Nations management will meet next week with a body representing UN staff members to deal some of the concerns raised over the handling of a recent incident, a UN spokesman said today.
Saying that the safety of United Nations workers “has to be my first priority,” Secretary-General Kofi Annan has presented his $97 million plan for new unified security measures to the General Assembly’s main budget committee.
