UN staff security summit told terrorists now view the organization as the enemy

Meeting under the theme of “After Baghdad: United Nations Workers Under The Gun,” the UN Staff Union’s annual summit on security has been warned by the Security Council President that the UN “is no longer seen by terrorists as a neutral force, but rather as an enemy.”

Summit on UN staff security to be held at Headquarters this week

The sixth annual summit on United Nations staff security will take place in New York on Thursday, working from a theme based on the devastating terrorist attack against UN headquarters in Baghdad on 19 August, which killed 22 people, including the top envoy Sergio Vieira de Mello.

Security guard found dead at UN Headquarters in New York

A United Nations security guard was found dead today, with a gunshot wound to the head, in an empty lounge at the world body's headquarters in New York, UN officials said.
