The United Nations humanitarian chief today announced the allocation of some $100 million from an emergency account to boost operations in 12 poorly- funded crises ranging from Afghanistan to Yemen.

Donors responded today to the United Nations call to support the emergency fund that is critical to saving the lives and livelihoods of millions of people in the aftermath of disasters by pledging $384 million for next year.

Donors today pledged a total of $358 million in contributions to the United Nations-managed humanitarian fund created five years ago to ensure rapid and reliable assistance for people affected by conflict and natural disasters.
