Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today warmly congratulated Park Geun-hye on her election as the next President of the Republic of Korea, and voiced his readiness to work with the new Government, according to his spokesperson.
In his message for UN Day, observed on 24 October, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon states that the United Nations is not just a meeting place for diplomats.
Mr. Ban proved this when he welcomed South Korean pop star PSY to the UN on Tuesday.
