The head of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) today pledged the agency’s full support to the Government and people of the Philippines as they seek to deal with the effects of the violent storms that devastated parts of the country last month.
The head of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has met with victims of recent storms in the Philippines, witnessing the damage wrought by the typhoon and subsequent floods and hearing first-hand accounts of the devastation.
The United Nations today launched an appeal for $74 million to help 1 million flood-stricken people in the Philippines – which has been hit by massive back-to-back storms – for the next six months.
