Attacks on Nigeria’s schools are a way of life, but kids are returning to class: UNICEF 

Attacks on schools in northeast Nigeria and elsewhere are “a way of life” and their impact is “devastating” on children’s mental health. 

Despite the dangers, boys and girls are returning in their thousands to places that were previously in the grip of Boko Haram extremists, according to UN Children’s Fund UNICEF

UN News’s Daniel Johnson spoke to the agency’s representative in Nigeria, Peter Hawkins.

Condemnation over new attack on Nigeria school, ‘more than 300’ girls missing 

An attack on a secondary school in northwest Nigeria on Friday in which several hundred girls are still missing, has been strongly condemned by the UN Secretary-General, and UN Children’s Fund, UNICEF.

UN chief condemns attack on school in Nigeria

The United Nations Secretary-General has strongly condemned Wednesday’s attack on a boarding school in north-central Nigeria in which one student was killed and several students, as well as relatives and staff, abducted.
