Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the President of the Marshall Islands today discussed ways to strengthen the partnership between the United Nations and the Pacific island nations.
A state of emergency was declared in the Republic of the Marshall Islands on the 7th of May. This island state, located in the northern Pacific Ocean, is yet another casualty of climate change with prolonged and severe drought affecting the northern islands.
